Frequently asked questions
I've never done this before... how does it start?
Great question! The first step is for us to have a brief initial consultation. We'll discuss what's troubling you, I'll answer any questions you have and we'll see if this feels like a good fit. After that, we'll book a session (either in person or virtual) and start to get to know each other. Once I get a better understanding of what's troubling you, we'll come up with a clear plan on how to address your needs.
Do you offer in person services?
Yes, absolutely! I offer both in person and virtual services.
Is everything I say in therapy confidential?
Yes, legally therapists are bound by confidentiality rules, ensuring that everything you discuss remains private, with a few legal exceptions (e.g., threat of harm to self or others).
Are your services covered under insurance?
Typically, insurance plans/extended health benefits include social work in their insured services. To determine your eligibility and approved rates of coverage, please contact your HR department or your insurance company directly. A detailed receipt will be provided after every session.
Additionally, as of 2012, psychotherapy services provided by registered social workers has been recognized as a tax deductible medical expense by Revenue Canada.
What are your hourly rates? Do you have a sliding scale?
My hourly rate is $175/per 55 minute session. Please do not let cost deter you from accessing mental health services. I do have a sliding scale, which I am happy to discuss with clients. Please reach out to me directly to find out more details.
Do you have a cancellation policy?
Yes--I require 24 hours notice to cancel an appointment. A missed scheduled appointment without notice will result in a $150 charge.
I have more questions... what do I do? Do you offer an initial consultation?
I always offer a complimentary initial consultation call. It's important that you have the space to ask any questions you need. Please do not hesitate to reach out!
